Becoming a Person of Influence/Talent Is Never Enough

1. Integrity: The Bedrock of Influence

If a man’s associates find that he lacks forthright integrity, he will fail.

It's about being the same person on the inside as you are on the outside, regardless of who's watching. 2. Nurturing: Adding Value to Others' Lives

What June did for me was post signs along the way, lift me up when I was weak, encourage me when I was discouraged, and love me when I felt alone and unlovable.

Nurturing defined. Nurturing is about providing others with the support, encouragement, and resources they need to grow and thrive. It's about creating a positive and supportive environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. It's about seeing the best in others and helping them to see it in themselves.

Becoming a nurturer. To become a nurturer, focus on giving rather than getting. Express love and appreciation, show respect for others' feelings and opinions, and provide a sense of security. Be a source of encouragement, offering support and guidance during difficult times.

3. Faith: Seeing Potential Others Miss

The one thing that will guarantee the successful conclusion of a doubtful undertaking is faith in the beginning that you can do it.

Faith defined. Having faith in people is about believing in their potential, even when they don't believe in themselves. It's about seeing their strengths and possibilities, even when others only see their weaknesses and limitations. It's about expecting the best from them and holding them to a high standard.

Faith's impact. When you have faith in people, you empower them to overcome their self-doubt and achieve extraordinary things. You create a self-fulfilling prophecy, where your belief in their abilities inspires them to rise to the occasion and exceed expectations.

The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn’t being said.

5. Understanding: Connecting on a Deeper Level

We are all wanderers, like sheep, on this planet.

Understanding defined. Understanding goes beyond simply hearing what someone says; it involves grasping their perspective, their motivations, and their values. It requires empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to connect with others on a deeper level.

6. Enlarging: Helping Others Reach Their Potential

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.

Enlarging defined. Enlarging is about helping others grow, develop, and reach their full potential. It involves providing them with the resources, support, and guidance they need to overcome obstacles, expand their horizons, and achieve their dreams.

Enlarging's impact. When you enlarge others, you not only benefit them but also benefit yourself. You gain a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and satisfaction. You create a ripple effect of positivity that extends throughout your community and beyond.

Becoming an enlarger. To become an enlarger, identify the strengths and potential of those around you. Cast a vision for their future, tap into their passions, and address any character flaws that may be holding them back. Provide them with the resources, opportunities, and support they need to grow and thrive.

7. Navigating: Guiding Through Life's Challenges

The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it’s the same problem you had last year.

Navigating defined. Navigating is about helping others navigate through life's challenges, providing them with guidance, support, and perspective during difficult times. It involves anticipating potential obstacles, offering practical solutions, and instilling confidence in their ability to overcome adversity.

Navigating's impact. When you navigate for others, you empower them to face their problems with courage and resilience. You help them learn from their mistakes, develop problem-solving skills, and emerge stronger and more capable.

Becoming a navigator. To become a navigator, develop your own problem-solving skills and learn from your past experiences. Be a good listener, offer practical advice, and provide encouragement. Help others to see the big picture and maintain a positive attitude in the face of adversity.

8. Relationships: The Ultimate Influence Multiplier

The only inheritance that a man will leave that has eternal value is his influence.

Relationships defined. Relationships are the connections we forge with others, based on mutual respect, trust, and shared experiences. They are the foundation upon which we build our lives and the lens through which we view the world.

Relationships' impact. Positive relationships provide us with support, encouragement, and inspiration. They help us to grow, learn, and reach our potential. They give us a sense of belonging and purpose.

Cultivating relationships. To cultivate positive relationships, be a good listener, show empathy and compassion, and offer support and encouragement. Be trustworthy, reliable, and consistent.
