Jack McDevitt is a versatile writer who worked as an English teacher, naval officer, Philadelphia taxi driver, customs officer, and motivational trainer before becoming an acclaimed science fiction author.
His debut novel, The Hercules Text, was published in the prestigious Ace Specials series and won the Philip K. Dick Special Award.
McDevitt's work has been remarkably successful, appearing on the Nebula Awards final ballot for 12 of 13 consecutive years.
