Russell Targ is an American physicist, author, and laser technology pioneer, born in Chicago in 1934.
He earned his physics degree from Queens College and conducted graduate work at Columbia University.
Targ received two NASA awards for contributions to laser technology and later worked at Lockheed Martin.
Most notably, he co-founded a 23-year, $25-million government-funded psychic research program at Stanford Research Institute, exploring remote viewing for U.S. intelligence agencies including the CIA. A prolific publisher of scientific papers, Targ also authored a memoir about his life as a legally blind motorcyclist and continues to lecture worldwide on remote viewing.
