  • Timothy Thomas Powers is an American science fiction and fantasy author known for his "secret histories," blending documented historical events with occult and supernatural elements.

  • Born in Buffalo, New York, he grew up in California and studied English Literature at Cal State Fullerton, where he befriended authors James Blaylock and K.W. Jeter.

  • He also knew Philip K. Dick, who based a character on him in VALIS.

  • Powers won the World Fantasy Award twice, for Last Call and Declare.

  • His breakthrough novel, The Anubis Gates, won the Philip K. Dick Award.

  • He currently lives in Muscoy, California, with his wife, Serena.
