Alan Bradley is a Canadian author who began his writing career after retiring from a long career in television engineering.
He published children's stories and short fiction before gaining recognition for his Flavia de Luce mystery series, which began with "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie." This debut novel won several awards, including the Debut Dagger Award and the Agatha Award for Best First Novel.
Bradley's earlier work includes "Ms Holmes of Baker Street," a controversial book proposing that Sherlock Holmes was a woman.
He has also written non-fiction and humor pieces.
Bradley currently resides in Malta with his wife and cats.
