Alejandro Rodríguez Álvarez, known by his pen name Alejandro Casona, was a Spanish poet and playwright born in Besullo, Spain.
A member of the celebrated Generation of '27, he completed his bachelor's degree in Gijón and pursued further studies at the University of Murcia.
A gifted dramatist, Casona developed a distinctive theatrical style blending fantasy, humor, and profound themes such as life, death, and love.
Following Francisco Franco's rise to power in 1936, he was forced into exile alongside many Spanish intellectuals, eventually settling in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He remained there until 1962, when he permanently returned to Spain.
