Alex Flinn
Alex Flinn grew up with an early interest in reading and writing, receiving her first rejection letter at age eight.
She moved to Miami in middle school, where she struggled socially but found solace in literature.
Flinn studied opera in college before attending law school, which influenced her first novel, Breathing Underwater.
She writes for young adults, feeling she never quite outgrew that stage of life.
Flinn's experiences volunteering with battered women inspired her to address dating violence in her work.
She currently resides near her old middle school in Palmetto Bay, a Miami suburb, with her family and pets.
