Fr. Antonin-Gilbert Sertillanges, O.P. was a French Catholic philosopher and spiritual writer.
He entered the Dominican order and became a professor of moral philosophy at the Institut Catholique de Paris.
Sertillanges founded the Revue Thomiste and focused his scholarly work on Thomas Aquinas's moral theory.
He is best known for two non-specialist works: "The Intellectual Life" and "What Jesus Saw from the Cross." Sertillanges also wrote on political theory and French identity.
During World War I, he initially defended Pope Benedict XV's peace proposals but later opposed them in a controversial response.
His writings blend philosophical inquiry with spiritual guidance, reflecting his commitment to both intellectual pursuits and Catholic faith.
