Beck Weathers is an American pathologist and mountain climber who gained fame for his survival and rescue during the 1996 Mount Everest disaster.
His experience on Everest, where he was left for dead but miraculously survived, led to severe frostbite and the loss of his nose and parts of his hands and feet.
Weathers' story became well-known through Jon Krakauer's bestselling book "Into Thin Air" and various media coverage.
He later wrote his own account, "Left for Dead," which not only details his Everest ordeal but also explores his personal life, including his struggles with depression and the impact of his mountaineering obsession on his family relationships.
