Clare Furniss grew up in London before moving to Birmingham during her teenage years.
Her early career was varied, including roles as a waitress, shop assistant, and working at the Shakespeare Centre Library in Stratford-upon-Avon.
She pursued higher education at Cambridge and Aberdeen, later channelling her skills into media relations for the homelessness charity Shelter.
She also spent several years as a press officer for then Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone.
Furniss is the author of two well-received YA novels, demonstrating a talent for realistic, emotionally resonant storytelling.
She currently lives in Bath.
