María Laura Espido Freire is a Spanish writer born in Bilbao in 1974.
She studied classical music and English philology at the University of Deusto.
Her literary career began with the novel "Irlanda" in 1998, which has been translated into multiple languages.
In 1999, she became the youngest writer to win the prestigious Premio Planeta for "Melocotones helados." Her works have been translated into various languages, including French, German, and Japanese.
Espido Freire has taught creative writing at universities and continues to receive recognition for her literary contributions, winning the Premio Ateneo de Sevilla in 2007 for "Soria Moria.".
