Ethan Michaeli
Ethan Michaeli is an American author, journalist, and academic based in Chicago.
He wrote Twelve Tribes: Promise and Peril in the New Israel (2021) and The Defender: How the Legendary Black Newspaper Changed America (2016), the latter winning multiple awards and recognition from The New York Times and Washington Post.
A University of Chicago graduate, he worked as an investigative reporter at the Chicago Daily Defender and founded the Residents' Journal, a publication produced by Chicago public housing tenants.
He currently lectures at the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy and advises the Goldin Institute, an international nonprofit organization.
