Georges Ivanovich Gurdjieff was a Greek-Armenian mystic and spiritual teacher active in the early to mid-20th century.
He developed a method called "The Work" or the "Fourth Way" to help people transcend their ordinary state of consciousness, which he believed was a form of "waking sleep." Gurdjieff claimed his teachings were based on ancient wisdom and aimed to awaken people to their full human potential.
He established schools worldwide to teach his methods, which he described as "esoteric Christianity." Gurdjieff's teachings focused on self-awareness in daily life and understanding humanity's place in the universe.
His written works include the series "All and Everything.".
