Herbert P. Bix is an American historian born in 1938 in Boston.
He earned his Ph.D. in history and Far Eastern languages from Harvard University and was a founding member of the Committee of Concerned Asian Scholars.
Bix has dedicated several decades to writing about modern and contemporary Japanese history, both in the United States and Japan.
His most notable work, "Hirohito and the Making of Modern Japan," won the Pulitzer Prize for general non-fiction in 2001.
