James Brien Comey Jr. is an American lawyer who served as the seventh Director of the FBI from 2013 to 2017.
Previously, he was U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and U.S. Deputy Attorney General under President George W. Bush.
Comey also worked in the private sector as general counsel for Lockheed Martin and Bridgewater Associates.
His tenure as FBI Director was marked by controversy, particularly his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation and his dismissal by President Donald Trump in 2017.
Comey's actions and subsequent testimony became central to investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible obstruction of justice by Trump.
