Jeanne Theoharis is a professor of political science at Brooklyn College, CUNY. She holds an AB in Afro-American studies from Harvard and a PhD in American culture from the University of Michigan.
Theoharis has authored or co-authored four books and numerous articles on the black freedom struggle and contemporary racial politics in the US. Her work focuses on challenging simplified narratives of civil rights history, particularly through her research on figures like Rosa Parks.
Theoharis comes from a family of scholars and activists, with her father specializing in FBI history and her sister co-chairing the modern Poor People's Campaign.
