Jerome Klapka Jerome was an English writer and humorist best known for his comic travelogue Three Men in a Boat (1889).
Born in Walsall, England, he experienced poverty in his youth before finding success as a writer.
His honeymoon on the River Thames inspired his most famous work.
Jerome wrote numerous essays, novels, and plays throughout his career, including Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow and Three Men on the Bummel.
Although he continued writing for decades, none of his subsequent works achieved the same level of success as Three Men in a Boat.
