Jill Ciment is a Canadian-born author and academic.
She has written several novels, short story collections, and memoirs, including "Half a Life" and "The Tattoo Artist." Ciment's work has earned her numerous accolades, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
She currently serves as a professor at the University of Florida and divides her time between Gainesville, Florida, and Brooklyn, New York.
Ciment was married to the painter Arnold Mesches for many years until his death in 2016, a relationship that features prominently in her memoir "Consent.".
