Julie Yip-Williams was born in Vietnam in 1976 and immigrated to the United States as a child.
Despite being legally blind, she graduated from Williams College and Harvard Law School.
She became a successful lawyer in New York City, married, and had two daughters.
At age 37, Julie was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.
She began writing about her experiences, which eventually became this memoir.
Julie passed away in March 2018 at the age of 42, leaving behind her husband Josh and daughters Mia and Isabelle.
Her book offers a candid and poignant look at living with terminal illness.
