Lance Dodes

Lance Dodes, MD is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with over 30 years of experience treating addiction.

He has authored multiple books on the subject, including "The Heart of Addiction" and "Breaking Addiction." Dr. Dodes was a Training and Supervising analyst emeritus with the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and formerly an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

His work challenges conventional approaches to addiction treatment, particularly the 12-step model.

Dr. Dodes advocates for individualized psychotherapy as a more effective method for addressing the underlying causes of addictive behaviors.

He currently resides in Southern California, where he continues to contribute to the field of addiction treatment.
