Leon Leyson, born Leib Lejzon, was the youngest survivor on Schindler's List.
He was only 10 years old when Nazi Germany invaded Poland, forcing his family into the Krakow ghetto.
Leyson survived the Holocaust thanks to Oskar Schindler, who employed him in his factory.
After the war, Leyson immigrated to the United States, where he became a high school teacher in California.
He kept his Holocaust experiences private for many years until the release of Spielberg's film "Schindler's List" in 1993.
Leyson then began sharing his story through public speaking engagements.
He wrote "The Boy on the Wooden Box" late in life, completing the manuscript shortly before his death in 2013.
