Manucher Mirza Farmanfarmaian was a prominent Iranian aristocrat and oil expert born in 1917.
As the 13th child of a Qajar prince, he grew up in an influential family but later faced challenges under the Pahlavi dynasty.
Educated in petroleum engineering at the University of Birmingham, he returned to Iran and held significant positions in the oil industry, including director of concessions and a founding member of OPEC. Farmanfarmaian served as Iran's ambassador to Venezuela and witnessed key historical events, from the fall of the Qajar dynasty to the Islamic Revolution.
His memoir, "Blood & Oil," offers unique insights into Iran's political and economic landscape during the 20th century.
