Marina Lewycka is a British novelist of Ukrainian descent.
Born in a German refugee camp after World War II, she moved to England with her family.
Lewycka studied at Keele University and now works as a media studies lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.
In addition to her fiction writing, she has authored practical advice books for carers of elderly people, published by the charity Age Concern.
Her debut novel, A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, gained significant attention and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize.
Lewycka's background as a child of Ukrainian immigrants often influences her writing themes and characters.
