Markus Zusak is an Australian author best known for his international bestseller, The Book Thief.
Born to German and Austrian immigrant parents, Zusak grew up in Sydney and began writing as a teenager.
His early works include The Underdog, Fighting Ruben Wolfe, and When Dogs Cry.
The Messenger, published in 2002, garnered critical acclaim and several awards.
The Book Thief, released in 2005, catapulted Zusak to global recognition, spending over a decade on the New York Times bestseller list and being translated into more than 40 languages.
His long-awaited novel, Bridge of Clay, was published in 2018 after a 13-year gap.
