Noriko Morishita is a Japanese author and reporter born in Yokohama in 1956.
She graduated from Japan Women's University with a degree in Japanese Literature.
Morishita began her career as a reporter for Shukan Asahi magazine while still in university.
Her first book, published in 1987, was based on her experiences researching for the magazine's Dekigotology column.
Since then, Morishita has established herself as a successful essayist and reporter.
Her work often draws from her personal experiences, including her decades-long study of the Japanese tea ceremony, which forms the basis for her internationally acclaimed book, The Wisdom of Tea.
