Tanya Tagaq CM is a Canadian Inuit artist celebrated as an improvisational performer, avant-garde composer, and experimental recording artist.
She won the 2014 Polaris Music Prize for her album Animism, which revolutionized Canada's music landscape with its original vision.
Tagaq blends punk, metal, and electronica with her distinctive throat-singing style rooted in breath.
She has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists across diverse genres, contributing to projects ranging from hardcore punk to classical compositions, including works for the Kronos Quartet and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Her album Retribution was released in fall 2016.
