Thomas Cahill is an Irish-American author and scholar born in New York City.
Educated by Jesuits, he studied classical literature, philosophy, and theology at Fordham University.
Cahill later earned an M.F.A. in film and dramatic literature from Columbia University.
He has taught at various universities and worked as an education correspondent for the Times of London.
Cahill served as Director of Religious Publishing at Doubleday before becoming a full-time writer.
He has extensively studied Hebrew and the Hebrew Bible, and reads French and Italian.
Cahill divides his time between New York and Rome with his wife, Susan, who is also an author.
