Tommy Orange is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma.
Born and raised in Oakland, California, he graduated from the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts.
Orange is a MacDowell Fellow and Writing by Writers Fellow.
His debut novel, There There, draws from his experiences as an urban Native American and has received widespread acclaim.
Orange's work explores themes of identity, culture, and the complexities of modern Native life.
He currently resides in Angels Camp, California, and continues to write and contribute to conversations about Indigenous experiences in America.
