Viv Albertine was born in Sydney, Australia, to a French/Corsican father and Swiss mother.
Raised in North London, she attended comprehensive school and later art school, where she met Mick Jones and saw The Sex Pistols' first show.
Albertine formed a band with Sid Vicious before joining The Slits.
She learned guitar from Keith Levene, Johnny Thunders, and Joe Strummer.
After The Slits, Albertine attended film school and worked as a director for a decade.
She later turned to sculpture and songwriting, continuing her artistic pursuits.
