Schachter-Shalomi became a Lubavitcher Hasidic rabbi but later explored other spiritual traditions, including Buddhism and Sufism.
He founded the spiritual eldering movement, which aimed to reframe aging as a time for wisdom and spiritual growth.
His work in this area led to the creation of Sage-ing International.
