Bettany Hughes
Bettany Hughes is an English historian, author, and broadcaster specializing in classical history.
She grew up in West London in a theatrical family, which fostered her passion for public engagement.
After winning a scholarship to Oxford University, she studied Ancient and Modern History and continued postgraduate research while traveling through the Balkans and Asia Minor.
King's College London awarded her a Research Fellowship for her scholarly contributions.
Hughes lectures internationally at universities across the United States, Australia, Germany, Turkey, and the Netherlands on topics ranging from Helen of Troy to Islamic concepts of time, considering her academic teaching among her most important work.
