Jillian Hernandez is Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexualities, and Women's Studies at the University of Florida.
Her scholarship focuses on the intersection of race, gender, sexuality, and cultural aesthetics among marginalized communities.
Through her academic work, she examines how Black and Latina women use artistic expression and style to challenge societal constraints on their bodies and identities.
Her research methodology includes ethnographic studies of youth arts programs, exploring themes of embodiment, representation, and the creation of new possibilities for self-expression within communities of color.
