Her extensive publications focus on cultural issues in child maltreatment, violence against women, cross-cultural research, and ethics.
Dr. Fontes has worked as a psychotherapist and conducted research with diverse communities in the United States, Chile, and with Somali refugees.
A 2007 Fulbright Fellow in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and regularly speaks at conferences and facilitates workshops.
