Martin Steyn is an Afrikaans crime writer whose passion for the genre was ignited by Stephen King and later shaped by a fascination with serial killers.
He studied Psychology and Criminology at the University of South Africa, earning an honours degree in Psychology.
His debut novel, Donker Spoor, was published in 2014 and won the ATKV Woordveertjie for Suspense Fiction, as did his follow-up, Skuldig.
Steyn is committed to realism, regularly consulting detectives and forensic experts.
He has also written articles about South African crimes, including a profile of serial killer Moses Sithole.
