Michael E. Brown is an American academic and Professor of International Affairs, Political Science, and Gender Studies at George Washington University, where he served as Dean of the Elliott School of International Affairs from 2005 to 2015.
He holds a Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University and has held senior positions at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Harvard's Belfer Center, and Georgetown University.
His research centers on international security.
Brown is also recognized on campus for his signature orange necktie, which he only sets aside during Halloween week.
