Robert Spalding is a retired US Air Force brigadier general and nationally recognized expert on Chinese economic competition and influence.
A former B-2 Stealth Bomber pilot, he served as director of strategic planning at the National Security Council and was chief architect of the widely praised National Security Strategy.
Having lived in mainland China as both an Olmsted Scholar and senior defense official at the US Embassy in Beijing, he is fluent in Mandarin.
Spalding is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, Washington, D.C.
