Born and raised in Dublin, Sheila O'Flanagan grew up above her parents' grocery shop in the Liberties area.
Despite dreaming of working with books, she unexpectedly built a successful career in financial services, eventually becoming Ireland's first female Chief Dealer at a commercial bank.
Throughout this time, she continued writing privately, finally committing to her literary ambitions in her thirties.
After navigating early publishing challenges, she secured a contract that allowed her to write full-time.
Today, she also contributes a business column to the Irish Times, drawing on her financial background while crafting character-driven stories about relatable, contemporary life.
