Eugene H. Peterson was a distinguished pastor, scholar, author, and poet whose prolific career spanned academia and ministry.
He served as James M. Houston Professor of Spiritual Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia, and founded Christ Our King Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, Maryland.
Having authored over thirty books, he is perhaps best known for The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language, a celebrated contemporary Bible translation that earned the Gold Medallion Book Award.
Peterson and his wife Jan retired to rural Montana, where he lived until his passing in October 2018.
