Holly Kennedy was born and raised in Alberta, Canada, and currently lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with her family and their Newfoundland dog, Wallace.
When not writing, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, and watching true crime television shows.
Kennedy's author's note reveals that many characters and situations in the novel, including the dogs, are based on real people and experiences from her own life.
She crafted Denny's character with considerable care and authenticity, drawing from personal connections to portray developmental disabilities and neurodivergence with respect and realism.
