Ilona Bannister
Ilona Bannister is an American author born and raised on Staten Island, New York, who has built her literary career while living in the UK for nearly two decades.
She is the author of three books, including her debut novel, When I Ran Away, which earned a long-list nomination for the Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize in 2021.
Her third book, Five, is set for publication in May 2026.
Though deeply rooted in her New York identity, Ilona currently resides in the UK with her husband and sons, balancing her transatlantic life and writing career.
