Dallas William Mayr, known by his pen name Jack Ketchum, was an American horror fiction author celebrated for his outstanding contributions to the genre.
He received four Bram Stoker Awards and the 2011 World Horror Convention Grand Master Award.
His notable novels include Off Season, Offspring, and Red, all adapted to film.
Before writing, he worked as an actor, teacher, literary agent, and lumber salesman, among other roles.
Mentored in his teens by Psycho author Robert Bloch, Ketchum developed a lifelong passion for storytelling.
He passed away on January 24, 2018, in New York City at the age of 71.
