Karl Borromäus Adam was a German Catholic theologian born in Bavaria in 1876.
Ordained in 1900 after studying at the Philosophical and Theological Seminary at Regensburg, he earned his doctorate from the University of Munich in 1904.
He held professorships in Munich, Strasbourg, and eventually Tübingen, where he taught dogmatic theology until retiring in 1949.
A prolific writer, Adam authored numerous theological works, including Christ Our Brother, The Son of God, and Roots of the Reformation.
He is best remembered for his 1924 work communicating Catholic faith and the Church's role as keeper of that faith to the laity.
