Mahfi Eğilmez was born in Istanbul and holds degrees in economics and public finance from Ankara University and a doctorate from Gazi University.
He began his public service career as a Finance Inspector in 1972 and served until 1997 as Undersecretary of Treasury.
Until 2006, he held various private sector board positions.
Currently, he teaches Economic Policy at Istanbul Bilgi University and contributes to Radikal newspaper and CNBC-e Business magazine, while providing commentary on NTV and CNBC-e television.
Beyond economics, he passionately researches Hittite history, earning honorary citizenships and writing Hittite-themed stories.
His publications span economic policy, treasury management, and historical fiction.
