Trita Parsi is an Iranian-born scholar and founder of the National Iranian American Council.
Born to a Zoroastrian family, he fled Iran at age four to Sweden to escape political repression.
Parsi earned master's degrees from Uppsala University and Stockholm School of Economics, then received his Ph.D. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University under Francis Fukuyama's supervision.
Fluent in Persian, English, and Swedish, he holds Iranian and Swedish passports and lives in the U.S. as a permanent resident.
His work focuses on U.S.-Iran relations and Middle Eastern diplomacy.
Treacherous Alliance won the 2010 Grawemeyer Award and the 2008 Arthur Ross Silver Medallion.
