Angie Maxwell is Director of the Diane Blair Center of Southern Politics and Society and associate professor of political science at the University of Arkansas, where she holds the Diane Blair Endowed Professorship in Southern Studies.
A Truman Scholar with a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Texas, Maxwell has appeared on PBS's Reconstruction and MSNBC programs.
Her previous book, The Indicted South, won the V.O. Key Award for best book in southern politics.
She has co-edited multiple volumes and published articles in numerous academic journals and popular outlets including Vox and Huffington Post.
