Matthew Richardson was born in 1990 and graduated with First Class Honours in English from Durham University in 2011.
He pursued postgraduate research in intellectual history at Merton College, Oxford.
While working as a freelance journalist, speechwriter, and Westminster researcher, he began writing his debut novel, My Name is Nobody.
At just 24 years old, Richardson secured a six-figure pre-empt publishing deal with Penguin in summer 2015.
His background in intellectual history and research clearly informs his espionage fiction, particularly evident in the extensively researched Cold War setting of The Scarlet Papers.
