Sarah Loudin Thomas is a seventh-generation West Virginian who grew up on a 100-acre farm in French Creek.
She holds a bachelor's degree in English from Coastal Carolina University and writes historical fiction celebrating Appalachian people, land, and heritage.
Her novels have won numerous awards, including the 2021 Selah Book of the Year for The Right Kind of Fool and the 2015 Inspy Award for Miracle in a Dry Season.
She's also been a finalist for the Christy Award and Christian Book of the Year.
Thomas previously worked in PR at Biltmore Estate and directed Jan Karon's Mitford Museum.
She currently divides her time between ministry work with foster families and writing in western North Carolina.
