Siniša Malešević is a Yugoslav-born Irish sociologist and Chair of Sociology at University College Dublin.
Elected to the Royal Irish Academy and Academia Europaea, he specializes in comparative historical sociology, focusing on war, violence, nationalism, and ideology.
His award-winning books include Why Humans Fight (2022) and The Rise of Organised Brutality (2017), both receiving American Sociological Association Outstanding Book Awards.
He has published over 140 peer-reviewed articles, delivered 200+ invited talks worldwide, and his work has been translated into fifteen languages.
Previously, he worked with Ernest Gellner and held visiting positions at LSE, Uppsala University, and other institutions.
