Gennifer Choldenko is the acclaimed author of Al Capone Does My Shirts, a Newbery Honor book, and the Tales of Alcatraz series, which has sold over two million copies.
She holds degrees in English and American Literature from Brandeis University and illustration from Rhode Island School of Design.
Before becoming a successful writer, she worked various jobs including selling lingerie and teaching horseback riding to visually and hearing-impaired children.
Choldenko describes herself as a fitness fanatic and book-obsessed woman who thinks like a twelve-year-old, with a passion for storytelling inherited from Irish storytellers and theatre people.
