Alan Furst is a New York-born author widely recognized as a master of the historical spy novel.
Having lived extensively in France, particularly Paris, he draws deeply on European sensibility in his writing.
He now resides on Long Island.
Furst has written numerous novels, most notably the acclaimed Night Soldiers series, spanning from 1988's Night Soldiers to Under Occupation in 2019, set across Europe during the tumultuous pre-WWII and WWII eras.
He has also written several stand-alone novels earlier in his career.
His papers reside at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
